One to One
While watching the movie in class I saw how the effective one to one program is and I hope I get the opportunity to work in a class room where students have a lot of access to computers. It would give me the opportunity to be creative with my lesson plans and learn along with my students.
Being only a few years out of high school I am honestly a bit jealous that high school students in my district are getting so much access to their own computers. I would have loved to have my own laptop through out school. The students are getting a head stat on a computer based world and it will really benefit them in the future especially when they attend college. Their research skills will increase and they will also gain a great grasp on technology. Some fears I have about the one to one program is the fact that the students will constantly be on the computer and they could look at unsafe sites. There could also be a lack of tech support in the schools and a student could fall behind with a broken computer.

Finding unsafe sites is usually not an issue for students using computers in schools, as districts are required to have software installed at the district level that blocks access to objectionable material. This is not to say that it's impossible to find objectionable sites, as new ones pop up frequently, but such problems are fairly rare in schools. At home it's another matter. If students are allowed to take their laptops home, they can (usually) find access to any sites they want. Parents can install blocking software on their own computers, and there are other ways they can monitor use. I prefer the "educate your kids and trust their instincts" method myself.
